Kings Norton Drains helping the local community

Recently I saw a Facebook post from a local park requesting help from volunteers. I have visited the park regularly with my family and spotted a lot of blocked drains (as you do when you work in drainage) but had no idea it was volunteer ran until I saw the Facebook post.

I offered to clear some of the blocked drains for them as the paths were flooding and within a couple of days I was at Cotteridge Park in between call outs.

I emptied a lot of the gullies that hadn't been done for years, they were full right to the top with silt and soil.

I plan to go back soon as all the outlets from the gullies were blocked and need a bit more work and some high pressure water jetting. It was such a sunny day when I was there everyone had come to the park and I didn't want to ruin it by closing paths and firing up the jetting unit!
